Son Tu
I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Baylor University, starting August 2025. Before that, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at Michigan State University, working with Olga Turanova. Previously, I was a Ph.D. student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, advised by Hung V. Tran.
My dissertation is on partial differential equations, particularly Hamilton-Jacobi equations and the asymptotic behavior of their solutions in connection with optimal control theory.
My current research focus on the nonlinear behavior of solutions to certain classes of Hamilton–Jacobi equations, homogenization, their connections to dynamical systems, and applications to free boundary problems and integro-differential equations arising in fluid dynamics.
- Aug 2025 · I will be co-organizing (with Prerona Dutta) a special session at the AMS Fall 2025 Southeastern Sectional Meeting, held at the Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, on October 01-03, 2025.
- Sep 2024 · I co-organized (with Yuxi Han) a special session at the AMS Spring 2025 Central Sectional Meeting, held at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, on March 29–30, 2025.
